Assistant Director of Communications & Engagement - 6-month Fixed Term Contract

This is a brilliant opportunity to join a high-profile public sector organisation on an interim basis as their Interim Assistant Director of Communications & Engagement, providing strategic leadership, specialist expertise and strategic vision to ensure that the organisation has a high-quality, comprehensive engagement and communications strategy.
Your new role
You will provide a strategic, planned, coordinated and evaluated approach to public engagement, ensuring that the organisation has an inclusive public engagement policy and strategy. You will lead full stakeholder engagement, expectation management and influencing, working with others to ensure effective communication of key service information at all levels. You will lead the development and implementation of proactive and innovative internal and external communication strategies, and monitor their delivery in a highly complex organisation and deliver new and innovative approaches. Ensuring all communication channels are appropriately utilised in order to maximise their contribution to the organisational objectives. You will lead the development of the organisation's branding and corporate identity. You will be the lead in providing expert advice, guidance and support to members of staff in fulfilling their engagement roles with stakeholders. You will manage relationships with contacts at all levels across the organisation, and externally, in order to establish effective working relationships between members of the Communications & Engagement team, key stakeholders, the Executive Team and the Board.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have prior experience of working at a senior level in a PR & Communications environment, being responsible for managing a team. You will ideally be a member of CIPR or similar, with a demonstrable commitment to continued professional development. You will have proven knowledge and experience of dealing with local, regional and national media, producing crisis communications, as well as producing effective internal communications. Experience of working in a complex organisation within the Public Services landscape in Wales is highly desirable.
What you'll get in return
Annual salary of £76,965. This position is offered on a six-month Fixed Term Contract. Hybrid /flexible working options are available, but you will be expected to spend two days per week on-site in Nantgarw.
