Job Title: Assistant Hygiene Manager
Pay Rate: £17.09 per hour (£40,000 pa)
Contract Type: Full Time
Hours: 45 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday (Night Shift) ,18:00 - 03:30 (9 hours per night),30 minutes unpaid break
Location: Blue Earth Foods, 9B Redditch, B98 0RE

Job Purpose:
To support the Site Hygiene Manager in leading and coordinating hygiene operations across all areas of a seafood production facility.
The Assistant Hygiene Manager ensures cleaning standards meet food safety, customer, and company requirements while promoting a safe and efficient working environment.

Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day management of the hygiene team, ensuring all cleaning tasks are completed to the required standard and within the designated timeframe. They will ensure compliance with site hygiene schedules, Cleaning Instruction Cards (CICs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). A key part of the role involves supporting the delivery of hygiene training for operatives, including overseeing CIC sign-offs and conducting refresher training as necessary.
The candidate will be responsible for monitoring hygiene standards across both high-risk and low-risk areas, assisting with internal audits, and helping to implement corrective actions when required. They will maintain accurate hygiene documentation and support audit preparation for customers and regulatory bodies, such as BRC and M&S.
Additionally, the individual will work closely with production, technical, and health & safety teams to ensure cross-functional alignment and the implementation of hygiene best practices. Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and maintaining high hygiene standards across the site is also essential.

Key Skills & Experience:
Candidates must have previous experience within a food manufacturing setting, which is essential for the role. Experience in hygiene supervision or leadership would be an advantage. A good understanding of food safety standards, COSHH, and chemical handling is required. The role also demands the ability to lead, motivate, and develop hygiene operatives and team leaders. Strong organisational and communication skills, along with a flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach, are critical to success in this position.
