Birmingham City Council - Full Time - Social Housing role - Temprary ongoing role
Your new company
Birmingham City Council is offering an opportunity to join their dedicated environmental services team based at College Road, Kingstanding. As one of the UK’s largest local authorities, the Council is committed to maintaining clean, safe, and well-managed communities across the city. This role plays a key part in supporting that mission through direct engagement with residents and estate management.
Your new role
This is a full-time position offered on an initial three-month contract with the potential for extension. Working hours are typically around 8am to 4pm, though some flexibility will be required. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating waste-related anti-social behaviour, responding to tenant complaints, and conducting site visits across housing estates. Duties include managing service tickets related to fly tipping and other environmental offences, liaising with internal Council teams, and occasionally assisting with litter picking when needed. Interviews will be held in person at the office.
What you'll need to succeed
An Enhanced DBS is essential for this role, and having access to a vehicle is preferred due to the nature of the work. Candidates should have a strong understanding of social housing investigation and community engagement, along with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with both residents and colleagues.
What you'll get in return
The role offers a competitive pay rate of £14.32 per hour, with a total hourly rate of £16.05 including holiday allowance. You’ll be part of a team making a meaningful difference in Birmingham’s communities, with the potential for contract extension and valuable experience in local government operations.
