Assistant Head of Year – Bradford
Full‑time | Temporary | 5 days per week

Your New School:
Join a forward‑thinking Bradford secondary school committed to transforming outcomes for young people through strong pastoral leadership, inclusive values and a culture of high expectations. The school is part of a wider trust known for its community‑centred approach, diversity, and commitment to developing both students and staff.

The school champions values such as self‑help, self‑responsibility, equity, equality, democracy and solidarity, ensuring every student feels supported, valued and ready to thrive. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a pastoral team that plays a pivotal role in shaping students’ personal development, behaviour, attendance and wellbeing—making a genuine impact every single day.

Your New Role:
As Assistant Head of Year, you will be at the heart of the school’s pastoral provision, working closely with the Head of Year, tutors, senior leaders and families to ensure every student within the year group is supported, motivated and able to excel.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading year-group culture—setting the tone for behaviour, attitudes and aspirations.
Monitoring student progress and wellbeing, identifying barriers and coordinating timely interventions.
Upholding behaviour policies with consistency, fairness and a solutions‑focused mindset.
Building strong relationships with students, staff and families to improve outcomes.
Responding to safeguarding needs, following school procedures and liaising with DSLs.
Coordinating the tutor team and contributing to the wider pastoral vision.
Delivering year‑group assemblies, events, celebrations and key messages.
This is a fast‑paced, highly rewarding role where no two days are the same.

What You’ll Need to Succeed:
To excel in this role, you will bring:

Strong behaviour leadership and a calm, resilient approach.
Experience working with young people in an educational setting.
Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
A proactive, organised and solution‑orientated mindset.
The ability to analyse patterns in attendance, behaviour and engagement.
A genuine commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and helping students achieve their potential.
GCSEs (or equivalent), including English and Maths, are typically required.
If you are highly motivated, values‑driven and passionate about supporting young people, this role offers the perfect platform to make an impact.

What You’ll Get in Return:

The chance to shape the culture, wellbeing and success of an entire year group.
A supportive, team‑oriented environment with strong pastoral leadership.
Opportunities for professional development, coaching and progression within the trust.
Being part of a school with a diverse, vibrant community and a strong vision for improvement.
The fulfilment of knowing your work directly improves students’ lives—academically, socially and emotionally.
