Your new company

A growing insurance / reinsurance organisation based in London, operating in a fast-paced and regulated environment. The business offers exposure to technical insurance accounting within a collaborative finance function and works closely with internal stakeholders and external statutory accountants. You will be working in their offices near Liverpool Street station. This position is fully office-based with occasional remote working.

Your new role

You will join the finance team as a (Re)Insurance Accountant, supporting financial, statutory and regulatory reporting. This role is suitable for a part-qualified accountant with hands-on insurance accounting experience. You will play a key role in month-end processes, reconciliations and maintaining strong financial controls, while also supporting audits and process improvements. This role will be reporting directly to the Finance Director with great career progression and exposure.

  • Supporting statutory and regulatory reporting in collaboration with statutory accountants
  • Assisting with IFRS reporting, including journal preparation and balance sheet substantiation
  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes
  • Performing balance sheet, cash and bank reconciliations and resolving variances
  • Reconciling premiums, claims and technical accounts
  • Applying credit control best practice and liaising with brokers, insurers and reinsurers
  • Supporting cash flow forecasting and payment processes
  • Maintaining accounting records using Sage
  • Assisting with audits and responding to internal and external queries

What you'll need to succeed

  • Actively studying towards ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Experience in insurance or reinsurance accounting
  • Exposure to statutory accountants and statutory reporting processes
  • Strong balance sheet reconciliation experience
  • Working knowledge of IFRS reporting
  • Experience with cash reconciliations and financial controls
  • Understanding of credit control principles and best practice
  • Hands-on experience with accounting systems (e.g. Sage)
  • Strong Excel skills and high attention to detail
