Hays Accountancy & Finance are working with our client, a leading organisation within their sector, who are seeking an experienced senior finance professional to join their leadership team. This organisation operates across multiple service areas and requires a strong technical leader to drive high quality financial control, governance and reporting across the group.
This is an excellent opportunity for a forward thinking finance leader who enjoys driving improvement, shaping strategy, and working closely with both operational teams and executive leadership.


Your new role
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership within the finance function, cultivating a high performing, collaborative team culture.
  • Lead month end close across the group, ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of financial processes, controls, policies and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement, including enhancement of financial systems, automation, and best practice processes.
  • Lead on annual external audits and ensure the timely production of statutory financial statements for all group entities.
  • Oversee balance sheet integrity, including monthly reconciliations and reporting on reserves and key KPIs.
  • Manage cash flow and support forecasting over multiple time horizons.
  • Ensure compliance with all tax, VAT and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Provide financial control support to operational teams, building strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Act as deputy for the Director of Finance when required, including attendance at Board or Committee meetings.


What you'll need to succeed
  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA or equivalent).
  • 3+ years’ post‑qualification experience with strong technical accounting skills.
  • Experience leading and developing finance teams.
  • Solid background in financial control and day‑to‑day finance operations.
  • Proven ability to improve financial systems, processes and controls.
  • Experience producing statutory accounts and supporting external audits.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
