Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering exclusively with a global technology group to recruit a driven, ambitious and dynamic Assistant Accountant to join their accounting function in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. The position will report directly to the Financial Manager with an opportunity to develop as you progress through the business. You will play a key part in ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with accounting regulations. Supporting decision-making at the management level contributing to future financial growth for the group. Offering remote/office hybrid working and a financial study package for ACCA/CIMA/ACA, this is a great opportunity to really progress in a fast-paced global group. Your new role
Your key duties will include accruals, provisions, tax entries, general ledger posting through to managing the fixed asset register, including activation, depreciation and disposals. You will reconcile sub-ledger with the general ledger, balance sheet account processes, support internal/external audits, along with providing tax schedules for VAT/Tax returns. You will support the preparation of statutory financial statements, monitor import/export compliance, complete government reports (e.g., ONS surveys) along with ad-hoc financial analysis. You will support the Finance Manager with various projects, including continuous improvement initiatives, financial analysis and be involved in management accounting support as you develop in the role.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this progressive Assistant Accountant role, you will need experience in a similar position, strong MS Excel skills, experience within financial systems, with key analytical/numerical abilities. You will have strong communication skills to partner internally/externally at all levels, an ability to manage workloads to meet deadlines, and be willing to learn, seeking future career progression. You will ideally be AAT qualified, looking to study or studying for ACCA/ACA/CIMA, adaptable to business needs and a team player who can use their own initiative. Experience with financial systems such as TM1 and MS AX/D365, along with knowledge of preparing statutory accounts would be advantageous but not essential.
