Assistant Accountant - Northamptonshire - £35,000 - £40,000
We’re working with a growing SME who are looking for an ambitious finance professional to join the team and take ownership of key areas of the month-end process, with scope to grow into management accounts.
Reporting in to the Financial Controller, you’ll be joining a close-knit finance team and will play a key role in supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial information, while also helping to improve processes as the function evolves.
This role will suit someone who enjoys getting stuck in, is hands-on, and wants to develop towards producing a full set of management accounts over time.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting the month-end process across multiple areas
- Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations
- Fixed asset accounting and maintenance of the register
- Posting and reviewing journals
- Reviewing transactional outputs (AP/AR outputs and statements)
- Supporting the production of management accounts (with scope to take ownership of a basic set)
- Getting involved in process improvements across finance
- Potential future exposure to cost accounting
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in a similar Assistant Accountant / Management Accountant role
- Either AAT qualified/studying, ACCA/CIMA part-qualified, or QBE
- Background in an SME or mid-sized business environment
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive mindset
- Someone who’s not afraid to roll their sleeves up
- Interest in improving processes and adding value
