Assistant Accountant required for part or full-time role

We are looking for a highly organised and meticulous Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Director in the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accurate and timely processing of transactions.
This role can be either full or part-time.

Someone with a strong analytical mindset with excellent communication skills and great time management are key to this role.

Key Responsibilities:-

Accounts Payable
  • Process supplier invoices accurately and promptly.
  • Match purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
  • Prepare supplier payment runs and resolve invoice queries.
  • Maintain up-to-date AP ledgers.

Accounts Receivable
  • Credit control responsibilities - monitor customer payments and follow up on overdue debts.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and maintain accurate AR records.

Cash Management
  • Recording of cash book income/expenditure
  • Process expenses and corporate card transactions.

Nominal Ledger/VAT & Month-End Support
  • Post journals such as accruals, prepayments, and corrections.
  • Assist with month-end/prep for monthly management accounts.
  • VAT return prep and analysing of returns.

Administration & Support
  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems.
  • Reconciling weekly timesheets ready for monthly payroll
  • Support the Finance Director with ad-hoc reports and tasks.

Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts administration role.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (preferably Sage)
  • Multi-tasking abilities and to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
