We are delighted to be partnering with an established organisation who are looking for a proactive and driven Assistant Accountant / Management Accountant to join their finance team located near Hoddensdon. A rare opportunity to join this family-owned and supportive organisation, with excellent staff retention across the finance department.

Your new role

Working as part of a professional, supportive and down-to-earth finance team, this role will play a pivotal position in the finance team and will suit an individual who enjoys a varied role with the opportunity to learn new skills.

• Management accounts preparation for smaller subsidiaries within the organisation
• Assisting the Financial Controller with month-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations
• Fixed asset register maintenance
• Analysis and coding of expenses
• Cashbook management
• Supporting with purchase and sales ledger activities, including payments and reconciliations
• VAT returns
• Assisting the Finance Director with adhoc reporting requirements

What you'll need to succeed

• Experience of supporting with month-end reporting requirements including journals and reconciliations

• Year-end and audit experience
• Strong analytical and IT skills including Microsoft Excel (pivot tables / lookups)
• Willingness and appetite to learn and develop new skills
• Confident communication skills
• Manufacturing or similar experience is highly beneficial

What you'll get in return

• Starting salary circa £38000 - £42000
