Hays Accountancy & Finance is partnering with an expanding owner-managed manufacturing business who are one of the leading manufacturers in their sector who are looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant/Bookkeeper to support the Finance Manager.
Your new role
As No2 to the Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for the transactional finance across the ledgers, purchase, general and sales ledger to trial balance, including credit control and overall cash management, which will involve dealing with payment and invoice queries. You will also undertake bank and balance sheet reconciliations, assist with VAT returns and also assist the Finance Manager at month-end close, so an understanding of accruals, pre-payments and journals would be an advantage. As the Finance Assistant who will be managing the ledgers, you will also play a key role in collating financial data for the management accounts and financial statements.
You will also take responsibility for the monthly payroll of circa 75 factory staff, which will include various shift patterns rates with the hours taken from the Time & Attendance system and the usual HMRC deductions.This is an ideal role for an AAT Part or Qualified Assistant Accountant / Bookkeeper who has experience of working across the ledgers and month-end reporting. We will also consider candidates who are qualified by experience and seeking a role in Great Yarmouth as this is an office-based role working 5-days on-site.
What you'll need to succeed
As explained, this is a crucial No2 role supporting the Finance Manager, and we will consider all applications from individuals being QBE or part-qualified who have experience of accounts to trial balance using Sage Line 50, confident in credit control collections, able to process a monthly payroll and have experience of assisting at month-end, so very much a varied finance role working for a £10m turnover manufacturing business.
In person, you will be a confident individual as you will work closely with all departments of the business in managing the day-to-day transactional finances and assisting at month and year-end.What you'll get in return
The organisation offers a salary of circa £35,000, depending on experience, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (33 in total) including Christmas shutdown, 5-days on-site working Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.30pm and an earlier finish at 3.30pm on Fridays.
