This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-regarded public sector organisation within their Corporate & Support Services Directorate. The finance team is undergoing transformation and expansion, offering a dynamic environment where you can contribute meaningfully to financial operations and gain exposure across multiple accounting disciplines.

Your new role

As Assistant Accountant, you’ll support qualified accountants across a range of financial functions including financial reporting, budgeting, capital accounting, and treasury management. You’ll assist with preparing journals, reconciliations, and financial analysis to support decision-making. The role also involves grant management, audit support, and stakeholder engagement. You’ll have the opportunity to rotate across different areas of finance, gaining broad experience and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll have completed AAT/IATI or foundation-level exams from a recognised accountancy body and be registered as a student or affiliate member. You’ll bring at least 2 years’ experience in a finance or audit environment, with working knowledge of accounting principles and proficiency in Excel and accounting software. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage your own workload are essential. A full UK driving licence or access to transport is required.
