Your new role

As the Assistant Accountant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the finance function with both day-to-day operations and month-end processes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly accounts for overhead cost centres
  • Supporting the budgeting and forecasting cycle by gathering and analysing financial data
  • Reconciling company credit card transactions and ensuring accurate expense reporting
  • Managing prepayments, accruals, and recurring charges to maintain accurate records
  • Performing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations, resolving discrepancies
  • Assisting with VAT returns and national statistics submissions
  • Supporting year-end reporting, including statutory accounts and tax packs
  • Maintaining the fixed asset register, tracking acquisitions, disposals, and approvals

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you'll bring a solid foundation in accounting and a proactive, team-oriented mindset. You’ll be confident working in a fast-paced environment and supporting key financial processes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting month-end accounting, particularly with prepayments and accruals
  • A solid understanding of core accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Experience with variance and cost analysis, and preparing financial statements
  • Ideally studying towards a professional qualification such as CIMA or ACCA
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine desire to grow within the finance function
