Assistant Accountant role – join a dynamic, client-focused practice with great perks and growth.

About Our Client
Our client is not your typical accountancy practice. Yes, they deliver exceptional accounting and compliance services — but their mission goes beyond the numbers. They pride themselves on creativity, collaboration, and anticipating client needs to make a real difference. Their values aren’t just words on a page; they shape how they work every day. If you share this mindset, you’ll feel right at home.

The Role
They’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their friendly, close-knit team. This is a varied role where you’ll prepare accounts, support with tax, and help businesses understand their numbers. You’ll also play a part in driving improvements that benefit clients long-term. If you’re a natural “completer-finisher” who loves getting things done, this could be the perfect fit.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Preparing accounts (including incomplete records work and bookkeeping for different clients)
  • Supporting with tax and compliance tasks
  • Communicating with clients in a clear, professional, and approachable way
  • Spotting opportunities to improve processes and suggesting solutions
  • Bringing fresh ideas and asking smart questions
  • Taking ownership and using your initiative
About You
You don’t need to be the finished article, but here’s what will make you stand out:
  • Ideally 2 years’ experience in a similar practice role (qualified or QBE)
  • Working towards AAT/ACCA/ACA (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong communicator who explains things clearly and builds trust
  • Organised with excellent attention to detail
  • Proactive and confident with accounting/tax software and HMRC processes
  • Local enough to work flexibly but attend the office regularly
Most importantly, you’ll align with their values:
  • Creative & innovative – always looking for smarter ways to work
  • Collaborative – a true team player
  • Respectful, with integrity & empathy – you listen and deliver
  • Ownership – you see things through properly
  • Make things better – improving processes and experiences
Perks & Benefits
  • Private medical insurance (with option to add family members)
  • Group life cover for peace of mind
  • Flexible working where possible
  • Free on-site parking
  • Supportive team culture that celebrates success
  • And yes — plenty of tea and biscuits!
