This local business is steeped in history and intertwined with the history of Hull, is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join the current finance team.

This is a new role which has been created to support the Company Accountant and also provide a succession plan for the coming years.

Based in beautiful newly renovated offices, you will work within a team of 4 in finance and bridge the gap between transactional finance and management accounts.

Duties will include:

• Posting cashbook receipts and payments including employee expenses
• Reconciling bank accounts
• Maintaining fixed asset records and posting monthly depreciation journals
• Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts, including posting of prepayments and accruals
• Completing monthly detailed variance analysis
• Supporting with the year-end audit process
• Liaising with external auditors to ensure timely completion of deliverables
• Assisting the Accountant with implementing future system improvements and finance-based projects
• Assisting with the posting of purchase and sales ledger invoices, receipts and payments when required

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant who is looking to become qualified, ideally already studying or having completed AAT / accountancy-based degree.
This role offers longevity and future progression into the Company Accountant role once qualified. You will act as number two to the Accountant and support with the monthly management accounts and get involved in projects and process improvements whilst also assisting with transactional finance if required during busy periods and holidays.
