Children with Disabilities, Advanced Practitioner, Southend, Essex

Your new role

Southend Council are looking to appoint a full-time, permanent children with disabilities, an experienced Advanced Practitioner.
As the newly appointed AP, it will be your responsibility to skilfully manage complex work with the most vulnerable children in the community & in our care, whilst mentoring & supporting less experienced colleagues to grow and develop as practitioners.
You will provide support to children with disabilities and their families, while maintaining a safeguarding approach to protecting children. You will be required to provide professional and comprehensive casework to a caseload of children and young people, appropriate to experience and capabilities. There will also be a need to prepare written reports as and when required, including statements/care plans for care proceedings in the Family Proceedings & County/High Courts.
As well as this, you will proactively liaise with & work in partnership with other agencies/organisations/parents & carers and provide allocation & oversight of Transition Plans: Ensuring robust/timely transition plans are in place for young people moving into adulthood.
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available. However, you are required to be on-site at the Civic Centre a minimum of 2 days a week.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this position, you must be able to work in the UK, have a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the Social Work England and have completed your ASYE.
It is essential to have 3 years minimum post-qualifying experience with evidence of continuing professional development inc management skills training, Post Qualification Award PE qualification, or have on-site supervisor experience.
Have detailed knowledge of children with disabilities, child protection, looked after children and associated child in need social work practice issues and knowledge of the Restorative Practice model of social work intervention.
