Job Title: Accounts Senior
Your new company
A modern and highly regarded independent accountancy practice based in Edinburgh is looking to appoint an Accounts Senior to join its growing team. The firm has built an excellent reputation across the Scottish market for delivering a high-quality, personalised service to a broad portfolio of SME and owner-managed business clients. With a strong focus on both client relationships and employee wellbeing, the firm offers a genuinely supportive and collaborative culture. As part of its progressive approach to work-life balance, the firm operates a condensed four-day working week, with the office closed every Friday.
Your new role
You will join an experienced and friendly accounts team, working with a varied portfolio of clients across a range of sectors. Your responsibilities will include the preparation of year-end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies, alongside management accounts, VAT returns, and supporting clients with day-to-day queries. The role will offer regular client interaction and the opportunity to build long-term relationships, while also supporting junior members of staff and working closely with senior management. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice professional looking to join a people-focused firm that can offer strong long-term progression.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice environment and will be comfortable managing accounts preparation for a varied client portfolio. Candidates who are ACCA or CA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience will all be considered. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, alongside experience using cloud-based accounting software such as CCH, or similar. The successful candidate will be proactive, personable, and keen to work as part of a close-knit and collaborative team.
What you'll get in return
In return, you will join a well-respected and forward-thinking firm that places genuine emphasis on flexibility, wellbeing, and career development. You will benefit from a condensed four-day working week, with the office closed every Friday, alongside a competitive salary and supportive working environment. You will also gain exposure to an interesting and varied client base, ongoing professional development opportunities, and the chance to progress your career within a stable and growing Edinburgh-based practice.
