Role Purpose
To deliver high-quality accounting services while contributing to the development of the practice with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of client accounts and tax returns based on provided information
- Advising on tax liabilities and payment schedules
- Liaising with clients to obtain necessary financial data, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail
- Acting as a key contact for clients on day-to-day financial matters
- Assisting in tax planning and advisory services for individuals and businesses
- Supporting senior team members with business planning and specialised assignments
- Identifying and presenting tax planning opportunities
- Monitoring personal work quality and quantity against agreed targets
- Recording chargeable time and ensuring maximum efficiency
- Providing coaching and guidance to trainees
- Engaging in professional development and training courses
- Utilising support networks for clarification on technical queries
- Performing bookkeeping, ledger maintenance, supplier management, and financial reporting
- Supporting clients with accounting software and bookkeeping queries
- Participating in client seminars and promotional activities
- Contributing to business development and client referrals
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong proficiency in financial reporting and tax preparation
- Experience with accounting systems such as CCH, Xero, Sage, and Farmplan
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and active listening abilities
- High level of computer literacy
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- ACA or ACCA qualified/semi-qualified
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a professional accounting environment
Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent experience
- Experience with cloud-based accounting software
- Familiarity with rural business financial services
