Accounts Payable Assistant – Temp

An established UK-based organisation with a strong reputation in research, innovation, and technical excellence is seeking an Accounts Payable Assistant to join its finance team on a temporary basis for a minimum of 6 months. Your new role

  • Support the Accounts Payable function by processing and maintaining accurate records of supplier transactions, including credits, debits, and direct debits.

  • Use supplier portals to manage accounts and ensure timely processing of invoices.

  • Assist with reconciliation queries across all bank accounts related to Accounts Payable.

  • Review and reconcile supplier statements to ensure timely receipt and processing of invoices.

  • Respond to queries received via the Accounts email inbox, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams.

  • Assist with UK BACS, one-off supplier payments, and international wire/AP payment requests in line with service level agreements.

  • Contribute to the maintenance of staff supplier accounts and support the processing of staff expense claims.

  • Act as part of the Super User team for Accounts Payable, supporting both Finance and wider business functions.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Payable role, ideally within a busy finance team.

  • Strong understanding of transactional finance processes and supplier account management.

  • Experience using finance systems, Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to resolve queries efficiently.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple tasks effectively.
