Sandwell Council - Accounts Officer - Home Ownership - Temporary role - 6 months +

Your new company

Sandwell Council is committed to delivering excellent housing services to its residents. You’ll be joining a dedicated Home Ownership team within the wider Rent Accounting service, which consists of 17 staff members. The Home Ownership team has 8 specialists, and they're looking for one more expert to strengthen the team.

Your new role

As an Accounts Officer, you will play a key role in managing Right to Buy cases from start to finish. This is not a generic accounts role – you’ll be responsible for the full journey, from initial application through to completion of ownership. Accuracy, compliance, and excellent customer service will be at the heart of your work. Working hours consist of Monday - Thursday 9am - 5.30pm, Friday 9am - 5pm.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Handling Right to Buy applications end-to-end.
  • Ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies.
  • Managing multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders to progress cases smoothly.

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered, you must demonstrate a proven experience managing Right to Buy cases end-to-end as well as a strong knowledge of Right to Buy legislation and processes. You must also demonstrate the ability to handle multiple cases with accuracy and empathy with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Please note: CVs without clear evidence of Right to Buy experience will not be shortlisted.

What you'll get in return

You will receive a competitive hourly rate of £16.35 plus holiday allowance, along with the opportunity to work in a supportive and collaborative team environment. This role offers valuable experience within a respected local authority and the potential for contract extension based on workload. This role is initially fully in office, with hybrid capabilities to be reviewed later.
