ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT

Role Summary
As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Finance Manager and ensuring the Board of Directors receives accurate, timely financial information. This is a hands-on, varied role within a small, friendly team where attention to detail and a proactive mindset are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Process daily customer receipts, monthly Direct Debit collections, and DD mandates
- Issue daily Aged Debt reports to relevant stakeholders
- Produce customer statements and run credit control and debt reports
- Maintain client deposit spreadsheets and complete reconciliations
- Carry out general accounts processing tasks using Excel
- Provide cover for purchase ledger duties and payment runs when required
- Support monthly management accounts processes to agreed deadlines
- Manage the shared finance inbox and handle telephone queries
- Process data across a multi-company environment
- Work collaboratively within a team of four in a small office setting
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchase ledger invoices and supplier statement reconciliations
- Resolve supplier payment queries
- Complete daily bank reconciliations
- Assist with processing Retainer Return forms and reconciling customer ledger balances
- Support the Finance Manager, Managing Director, and Operations Director with ad‑hoc tasks
- Prepare and process monthly payment runs in line with company approval policies
Role Requirements
- Ability to work accurately, consistently, and to deadlines
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly via email
- Understanding of company procedures and commitment to maintaining accurate records and audit trails
- Flexibility to support wider finance tasks when needed
- Interest in improving processes and contributing to efficient ways of working
- Adaptability as the business continues to grow and evolve
Personal Profile
- Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities
- Confident IT skills, including Sage, Centre Charge, BACS, Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Excellent knowledge of Sage Line 200
- Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and accounts structure
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise a busy workload
- Approachable, professional, and confident communicator
- Comfortable adapting to change in a dynamic environment
Working Hours
08:45 – 17:15, with occasional flexibility required to support business needs.
£26,000 per annum.Office based Monday to Friday - Bournemouth - off road parking
