Accounts Assistant Based in Newcastle-under-Lyme On-site working Up to £30,000 DOE

Your New Role
As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the Financial Controller in managing day-to-day finance operations. Your responsibilities will include processing supplier invoices, managing payment runs, reconciling accounts, handling customer and supplier queries, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role is part of a newly acquired business, offering a dynamic environment with opportunities to contribute to its growth and success.

Key responsibilities
  • Process and record incoming and outgoing financial transactions accurately
  • Maintain and reconcile supplier and customer accounts with the general ledger
  • Coordinate regular payment schedules for vendors and ensure timely disbursements
  • Support month-end close by preparing reconciliations and financial summaries
  • Manage queries and resolve discrepancies related to invoices, payments, and account balances
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue payments
  • Assess and manage credit risks and potential bad debts
  • Prepare and distribute aged debtor reports for internal review
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records for all trading partners
  • Respond to enquiries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner


What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Experience in Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills for internal and external interactions
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise tasks
  • Familiarity with financial systems and reconciliation processes
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solving
