Accounts Assistant

Our client, a legal firm based in Newbury is currently seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their Finance Team.
This is a full time role (8.30am to 5pm) based ON-SITE in the office IN NEWBURY 5 days a week. (parking is available)

Job Purpose
The Accounts Assistant will support the finance team in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, and assisting with ad hoc duties.
Key Responsibilities
  • Process invoices, payments, and receipts accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and reconcile purchase and sales ledgers.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and petty cash management.
  • Prepare and post journal entries.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Handle supplier queries and maintain good relationships.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and statements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.

Skills & Competencies
  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance role is essential (2 years minimum)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Excellent communication skills.
