Permanent Accounts Assistant Job

Your new company

Hays are currently recruiting for a long-established family-owned hospitality business who are seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their team on a permanent basis. The role is a 35 -hour working week, with standard hours being 9am-5pm Monday to Friday. This role is based in Dunbartonshire and predominately office-based; however, flexibility is offered on start and finish times. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast-paced, unique and dynamic working environment.

Your new role

As Accounts Assistant, you will support the trading side of the organisation, working closely with the Head of Finance and the wider team. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Sales and purchase ledger management
  • Cash handling and banking across multiple businesses
  • Extensive reconciliations to ensure accuracy across systems
  • Year-end and audit preparation (December year-end)
  • Management reporting to support decision-making

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong transactional finance background and the ability to work at pace. You will be confident in liaising with colleagues across different businesses, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills. Curiosity and problem-solving ability will be key, as you will be expected to take an interest in improving processes and making things work more effectively. Hospitality or tourism sector experience would be desirable but is not essential.

What you'll get in return

This is an office-based role, particularly important during training, but offers stability and progression. You will join a supportive team with strong tenure and excellent career prospects within a growing, diversified organisation. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain varied experience across multiple areas of finance, from transactional processing through to reconciliations, reporting, and year-end preparation. You will be exposed to a diverse portfolio of businesses, giving you the chance to broaden your skills and develop a deeper understanding of finance within the hospitality and tourism sector.
