Accounts Assistant Job – 3–6 month contract

Hays are delighted to be working with a reputable accounting firm based in the heart of Glasgow to recruit an experienced Accounts Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to join a supportive finance team on a contract basis, with strong potential for a permanent position. The role offers a full-time working week from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5:30pm, with flexibility around start and finish times. Hybrid working is required, with three days based in the office and two days working from home.

Your new role

You will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations. Responsibilities include:

  • Processing purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Assisting with credit control to ensure timely collection of outstanding payments
  • Managing and updating spreadsheets with financial data
  • Providing general administrative support across the accounts department
  • Liaising with clients and internal teams to resolve queries
  • Supporting month-end processes as required
Credit control experience would be highly beneficial, and strong Excel skills are essential.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Previous experience in a similar accounts or finance support role
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and confidence in working with spreadsheets
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work
  • Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
