Your New Role

As an Accounts Assistant (with a heavy focus on Accounts Payable), you will be a key member of the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and payments. You’ll manage reconciliations, maintain ledgers, and assist with credit control activities. This role involves handling a large supplier base and supporting month-end routines, while also providing general finance administration and reporting support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process supplier invoices and credit notes with correct coding and authorisation.
  • Prepare payment lists and assist with payment runs.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain the accounts payable ledger and support month-end processes.
  • Assist with chasing outstanding customer payments.
  • Communicate professionally with suppliers and customers regarding queries.
  • Support the finance team with admin and basic reporting tasks.
  • Ensure compliance with audit and VAT requirements.
  • Manage approximately 200–300 suppliers with annual expenses of around £1 million.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • Previous experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles (study support for AAT or similar may be available).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Excel.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
