Location: Colwyn Bay, North Wales
Salary: Up to £27.764.55 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Holidays: 25 days annual leave + 8 public holidays

About the Organisation

A well‑established charity operating across Wales is seeking a Management Accounts Assistant to join its central finance team. The organisation provides a wide range of support services to individuals facing complex and co‑occurring life challenges, including mental health needs, substance use issues, housing instability, and social vulnerabilities.

Working in a mission‑driven environment, the charity brings together decades of experience from multiple established Welsh support organisations. The finance team plays a crucial role in ensuring services remain sustainable, well‑resourced, and compliant with financial standards.

Role Purpose
To support the Management Accountant in producing accurate and timely management accounts, while gradually taking ownership of month‑end tasks and financial reporting as your experience develops.

This role is perfect for someone with strong transactional experience who’s keen to progress into an Assistant Management Accountant role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monthly Management Accounts (Full Training Provided)
  • Prepare and upload journals into NetSuite using Excel.
  • Assist with reviewing monthly income and expenditure.
  • Process adjustments such as deferred/accrued income, accruals and prepayments.
  • Support investigations into variances between actuals and budgets.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Reconcile a range of balance sheet accounts.
Financial Administration

  • Maintain accurate records within the contract management system.
  • Support with preparing financial claims and returns for external funders.
  • Assist with costings for tender submissions.
  • Support the wider finance team with general finance tasks as required.
General Duties
  • Champion equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrate empathy and understanding of the charity’s service users.
  • Undertake any reasonable duties aligned with the role.
Person Specification

Essential:
  • Experience working within a busy finance team.
  • Strong transactional finance skills (e.g., AP, AR, bank reconciliations, posting journals).
  • Exposure to supporting management accounts or budgeting.
  • Confident producing meaningful financial information for non‑finance stakeholders.
  • At least 3 years’ experience using finance systems.
Desirable:
  • Experience producing system‑generated reports.
  • Experience using Oracle‑based systems such as NetSuite.
Skills

  • Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data manipulation).
  • High accuracy, attention to detail and a proactive approach.
  • Good analytical skills and willingness to learn.
Desirable:
  • Ability to contribute to process improvements or systems development.
Qualifications
Desirable (but not essential):
  • Part‑qualified CIMA / ACCA / ACA
  • AAT
