Reporting to the Finance Manager, we are looking for a skilled and motivated Accounting Technician to play a key role in delivering high‑quality financial support while contributing to new systems and processes.
About the Role
As an Accounting Technician, you will provide technical financial support across a wide range of accounting functions. This is a varied and hands‑on role, perfect for someone who enjoys working across multiple areas of finance and thrives in a developing environment.
You’ll play a crucial part in ensuring financial data is accurate, compliant, and delivered on time, while also helping build the systems and processes that will underpin our future success.
Key Responsibilities
- Process journals, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations accurately and efficiently
- Manage payroll journals and reconcile PAYE, national insurance, and pension accounts
- Support accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoices and queries
- Assist with the development and improvement of financial systems and processes
- Provide guidance to colleagues on financial procedures and systems
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with audit requirements
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and contribute to continuous improvement
Essential Skills & Experience
- Recognised accounting qualification (ideally AAT, or equivalent experience)
- Experience delivering core accounting tasks (e.g. reconciliations, journals, reporting, year‑end)
- Good understanding of financial controls, audit requirements, and compliance
- Strong Excel skills (e.g. VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas)
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Experience working with financial systems (QuickBooks experience advantageous)
