Accounting Consultant, Letterkenny, Global Company, 12-month Contract with possible extension

Your new company

You will work for a global, innovative company that has offices in Europe, the UK, America and Asia. They require an Accounting Consultant to join their team. This role is based in their Letterkenny office, and you will be a part of a well-established team of accounting professionals.

Your new role

As an Accounting Consultant, you will be supporting statutory audit, compliance and regulatory reporting requirements. The Accounting Consultant is essential for ensuring and maintaining an internal control structure and procedures for financial reporting. Working alongside the Finance and Accounting teams, you'll have the opportunity to manage both long and short-term projects effectively while working collaboratively in interdepartmental settings to accomplish tasks and goals.

Duties will include:

Create, document, review and approve journal entries (e.g., journal upload, general ledger queries)
Prepare, review and approve account reconciliations
Demonstrate understanding of intercompany relationships and organisational structures (e.g., segments, legal entities) required to record intersegment transactions and cost allocations.
Perform financial variance analysis and explanation (period-over-period actuals, variance to forecast) for Income statement and selected Balance sheet accounts.
Define, develop and improve business and accounting processes, leveraging the latest technology to automate and digitalise processes.
Manage, create and submit internal month-end analyses and reporting to the consolidation and management team.
Supports/maintains the underlying GL structure, and provides recommendations on potential changes that may impact financial reporting and create value.
Proactively identifies and addresses potential accounting errors/risks on an ongoing basis, ensuring compliance with US and International GAAP.
Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions.
Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them.
Partner with peers to develop and implement best practice across geographies, utilising time zones to provide around-the-clock service to our customers.

What you'll need to succeed

Fully Qualified Accountant with at least 3 years' post-qualification experience
Fully proficient in MS Excel
Established accounting experience within a multinational organisation dealing in various currencies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable
US GAAP experience
System integration or streamlining processes
Experience with PeopleSoft Financial
Forecasting experience
