Hays Accountancy and finance are seeking a qualified accountant to join our client’s team, with the successful candidate being responsible for financial management, budget management, centralised reporting of project financial information, and management of project cashflows.

Your new role

• Financial management, including budgeting and cashflow management
• Preparation of claim submissions to the external project controller, including provision of audit documentation in respect of claims verification.
• Preparation of consolidated financial reports for VSS and project partners, for internal review.
• Assist in the preparation of the Annual Accounts.
• Assist with financial month end on a timely basis to include preparation of financial reporting packs for key stakeholders.
• Provide advice to project partners on all programme rules and procurement activities in accordance with relevant guidelines/legislation.
• Support the Partnership Manager in the co-ordination and cascading of project outcomes to intermediate and lower-level operational plans and targets.
• Assist in the development and implementation of the Corporate and Delivery Plan.
• Facilitate ad hoc requests from the Senior Management Team and Board for project reporting.

What you'll need to succeed

• Qualified Accountant and current member of one of the following recognised CCAB bodies: Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA); Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA); Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants (CIPFA)
• OR a Fully Qualified Accounting Technician.
• Budget management including analysis of variances and preparation of reports for senior management.
• Able to use Microsoft Excel for data manipulation and reporting, including use of advanced functionality (for example VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).
• Experienced in month end closure to include reconciliation of control accounts and compilation of month end management accounts.
• Experience with internal or external audit processes, including the implementation of audit recommendations.
• Working with non-financial departments within an organisation to provide finance support and analysis.
• Able to develop processes and procedures which includes implementation of best practice arrangements.
