Maintenance Operative - Electrical Bias

General Maintenance Operative (Electrical Bias Preferred)
Location: Leeds
Salary: £29,000 per annum +
Contract: Temporary to Permanent (via Hays Recruitment)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

Are you a proactive and skilled maintenance professional looking for a rewarding role in a calm and supportive environment? We are currently seeking a
General Maintenance Operative to join a dedicated facilities team at a respected healthcare organisation in Leeds.

About the Role:
This is a mobile position where you’ll be responsible for attending to both planned and reactive maintenance tasks across the site. A van is provided for on-site use only, allowing you to respond efficiently to maintenance requests as they arise.

The environment is slow-paced and non-commercial, ideal for someone who values quality workmanship and takes pride in maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming space.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carrying out general building maintenance including basic plumbing, joinery, and decorating
  • Responding to reactive maintenance jobs across the site using the provided van
  • Conducting routine inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Supporting compliance with health and safety standards
  • Assisting with minor electrical repairs and installations (if qualified)
  • Liaising with contractors and external service providers
  • Keeping accurate records of work completed and materials used

What We’re Looking For:
  • Proven experience in a general maintenance or facilities role
  • Electrical bias or experience
    is highly desirable (e.g., lighting, PAT testing, minor installations)
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full UK driving licence (for on-site van use)
