Hays is seeking an exceptional leader to join a senior team as Interim Director of Property and Asset Management for a local authority in London. This is a pivotal role responsible for the strategic and operational management of the LA’s diverse property portfolio, including residential, community, corporate, and commercial assets.
As the Principal Accountable Person (PAP) for building safety, you will lead on compliance, health and safety, and fire safety across our housing stock. You will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, major works, and facilities management, ensuring high standards of service, value for money, and resident satisfaction.
Your new role
- Lead the Property & Asset Management team, driving performance and innovation.
- Develop and deliver the council’s Property and Asset Management Strategy.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations.
- Oversee building safety, including the implementation of a Building Safety Management System.
- Manage significant capital and revenue budgets.
- Promote sustainability and energy efficiency in line with net-zero goals.
- Engage residents and stakeholders in service design and improvement.

- Proven executive-level leadership in property or asset management.
- Strong understanding of building safety legislation and compliance.
- Experience managing large teams and complex budgets.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of delivering transformation and innovation.
