Highways Grounds Maintenance Operative Southend

Your new company
Southend City Council are currently recruiting a team of gardeners to assist the Parks Operations in undertaking the highway's maintenance work on the public highway.

Your new role
Join the Parks Department to assist with the ground's maintenance work, which will be on highway verges. The team are seeking candidates to join them in a long-term contract position with full-time hours (37 hours per week). Hours of work will be 7am–4pm Monday-Thursday and 7am - 12.30pm on a Friday. The ground maintenance depot: Priory Park

You will be working in the vicinity of this site to carry out your day’s work. This could include working on the highways.
Duties will include all

  • Grass cutting.
  • Use of a strimmer on highways
  • Walking
  • Littering.


What you'll need to succeed
A suitable applicant would ideally have experience of working within the highway environment, general labouring, outdoor work. Experience in this sector will ideally demonstrate your reliability for the hours of work and working outside. If you are a driver, this would be advantageous and you are able to walk up to 10 miles per day.
