Role Overview
- Provide stable, relationship‑focused 1:1 support for a Y3 boy with ADHD, ASD and trauma‑related needs
- Build trust gradually through predictable routines, clear communication and a calm presence
- Support regulation, emotional safety and transitions—both inside and outside the classroom
- Work closely with the SENCO, class teacher and pastoral staff to implement therapeutic, trauma‑informed strategies
- Assist with personalised learning activities, small‑group work and supported timeouts when required
- Help encourage re-engagement in learning for a pupil who may not always be in class
Candidate Profile
- Previous SEN experience is essential, particularly with dysregulation, trauma or autism
- Calm, consistent and patient approach—able to maintain boundaries with warmth
- Confident supporting pupils with trust issues or attachment‑related behaviours
- Skilled at de‑escalation and reading emotional cues
- Strong communication and rapport‑building abilities
- Level 2/3 TA qualification is advantageous
- SEN training highly valued, including:
- Trauma‑Informed Practice
- ADHD Awareness
- Understanding Autism
- Team Teach / de‑escalation or behaviour regulation training
- Emotion coaching or therapeutic approaches
- Makaton or communication‑based training (beneficial but not essential)
What You’ll Receive
- Supportive, skilled SEN and pastoral team around you
- Access to high‑quality, ongoing CPD focused on trauma, behaviour and neurodiversity
- A meaningful opportunity to make a long‑term impact on a pupil’s confidence and wellbeing
- Competitive day rate, dependent on experience
