Warrington, Cheshire. 1:1 support in KS3, ASD and selective verbal. Long-term contract starting Feb half-term.
Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established high school in Warrington that is easily accessible via public transport as they require a reliable and adaptable Level 2 teaching assistant to join their team on a full-time temporary basis. This is an extremely exciting opportunity to join an extremely supportive and welcoming school on a full-time temporary basis, committing to the school until the end of the academic year. You will be joining the KS3 cohort, working alongside a highly experienced and dedicated team of like-minded professionals.
Your main responsibility will be to provide comprehensive 1:1 support for a new pupil with an EHCP and dual diagnosis of ASD and selective verbal. Your new pupil is an extremely caring and happy individual, but has been struggling to adjust to a new timetable and is finding it difficult to integrate into new pupil groups. You will act as their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the school gate, walking them back to their grown-up(s) at the end of the day, and advocating for them at all times in between. You will support their speech and language development by building confidence and adapting learning material to suit their responses. A main pain point for them has been the inability to self-regulate with changes of routine. To again support this, you will implement an array of positive behaviour and regulation strategies, aimed at self-regulation to aid in later life. Other duties will include but may not be limited to:
- 1:1 interventions and boosters in core subjects, transitioning into small group sessions to aid in integration
- Supporting during break and lunch times

- Have good knowledge of the KS3 national curriculum
- Have experience supporting SEN within a classroom environment
