Warrington. 1:1 support for male pupil, high function ASD. Long-term full-time temporary contract.

Your new company

Hays Recruitment are proud to be working in partnership with an outstanding Warrington-based secondary school that recognise outstanding talent as they are looking for an experienced and reliable teaching assistant to join the school on a full-time, long-term basis. This school is looking for an outstanding teaching assistant to support a year 11 pupil with high-functioning ASD.

Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting an extremely bright and lovely year 11 pupil on a 1:1 basis. You will take more of an observational approach to his support, as he is extremely independent and working at the curriculum. He can at times become dis-regulated and lose focus. To support this and retain focus, you will implement positive behaviour strategies such as brain breaks, movement breaks or take him outside the class to regulate before reintegrating back into lessons. Other duties will include:

  • Interventions and boosters in core subjects
  • Supporting during break and lunch times
  • Maintaining accurate records on progress, including recognising key milestones
  • GCSE support toward the later stages of the academic year

What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a minimum of 40 days referenceable classroom experience within the last 2 years, and:

  • Sound knowledge of the KS4 national curriculum
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract (32.5 hours per week)
  • Experience supporting high functioning ASD is advantageous
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential

What you'll get in return

If you are successful in your application, you will receive the full support, dedication and guidance of a senior DfE accredited recruitment consultant, as well as a wide range of benefits, that include:

  • Free training
  • Upfront cost of DBS covered
  • Long-term contract
  • Highly competitive rate of pay
  • Full holiday entitlement
  • Company pensions scheme
  • On-site parking
  • Access to exclusive vacancies
  • Refer a Friend scheme
