1:1 Teaching Assistant – 3rd Nov Start – Wigan Primary School

Your new company

This is a Hays Partnership primary school, located within Wigan, and it is a two-form entry with a nursery. This is a well-equipped school with a fabulous outdoor area for the Early Years children, along with a sensory room for KS1 and KS2. This is a popular school in the area with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The school are now looking for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team and support on a mornings only basis Monday through to Friday, starting on the 3rd November on a long-term basis.

Your new role

In this job role, you will work on a 1:1 basis with a Y1 child and this will be mornings only, working in and out of the classroom and provide tailored support with daily routines, learning activities and emotional regulation. You will be working with a child on the neuro pathway to a diagnosis of ASD, so you will ideally need to have previous experience working with SEN in order to support this child. As this is a long-term role, you will need to be available to commit fully to the role in order to give the child and the school continued support.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience working 1:1 with children with severe learning difficulties.
  • Understanding of neurodiversity and ASD-related needs.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting learning.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive rate for mornings only – with the chance of the role turning permanent under the right circumstances.
  • Be part of a friendly and supportive staff team.
  • Work in a well-regarded local school with a strong community ethos.
  • Enjoy a consistent, long-term role with a mornings-only schedule.
