SEND Teaching Assistant Job | ASD Resource Base | September Start (Early Start Available)
A supportive SEN resource base within a mainstream school in the Willenhall area is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team for a September start.
For candidates who are available sooner, there is the opportunity to start earlier and support pupils ahead of the new academic year.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience or a strong interest in supporting pupils with Autism (ASD) and additional learning needs within a structured resource base environment.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils’ learning, behaviour, and emotional development. Duties will include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small‑group support for pupils with SEND
  • Supporting pupils with ASD, communication and interaction needs, and associated behaviours
  • Working mainly within the resource base, with supported transitions into mainstream lessons where appropriate
  • Assisting the teacher with differentiated learning activities and interventions
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, routines, and social development
  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and engagement in learning
  • Monitoring progress and feeding back to teachers and SEN staff
  • Supporting pupils in line with their EHCP targets
  • Assisting with personal care where required (training provided)
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people (SEN experience preferred but not essential)
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Confidence supporting pupils with autism and additional needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine commitment to inclusive education and pupil wellbeing
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable, not essential
