Your new role
As a Natural Product Chemist, you’ll play a key role in isolating and purifying bioactive compounds from plant sources.
Your day-to-day will include:

- Carrying out extraction and separation of natural compounds from plant materials
- Running and maintaining analytical instrumentation such as HPLC and flash chromatography systems
- Preparing samples and performing routine chemical analyses
- Keeping detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures and results
- Working closely with scientists across disciplines to support ongoing research projects
- Assisting with general lab operations in a dynamic start-up setting
- Contributing to method development and optimisation of purification workflows
- Supporting the delivery of high-quality data for R&D initiatives
This role is fully lab-based and can be open at different levels dependent on the experience of the incoming candidate.
What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll need a solid foundation in analytical chemistry and a passion for natural products.
You should also have:

- A BSc, MSc or PhD (or equivalent experience) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Natural Product Chemistry, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with purification techniques such as flash chromatography, filtration, and extraction
- Ability to interpret analytical data and produce clear, concise reports
- Familiarity with chromatographic software platforms (e.g., Agilent, Waters, Thermo, Shimadzu)
- Understanding of LC-MS and mass spectrometry principles, with 1D / 2D NMR experience also valuable
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
- Hands-on experience of natural product chemistry / extraction of molecules from plants would be a significant advantage
