Homeless Jobs
If you have a background in housing and want to work on the front line helping those that are at risk, then a homeless job could be for you.
You will spend the majority of your time interviewing applicants who claim to be homeless or are threatened with homelessness with the aim of preventing such a situation arising.
Helping and providing support to the homeless
Your role will be to assess applicants and provide advice to prevent homelessness occurring. Once a homelessness situation has been identified, you will then need to liaise with external agencies such as social services, landlords and the police to get the appropriate support for the clients.
A Housing qualification is normally required and you must have a good knowledge of housing tenancy and property law as you will be responsible for providing housing advice to tenants.
You should be a good communicator and be able to organize your time effectively and keep accurate records of decisions that have been made. You must be flexible - homeless work can mean unsociable hours as an emergency service will often be offered to those in need.
