Background and challenge
Over the past four years, Hays has supported the National Audit Office (NAO) in recruiting a variety of vacancies ranging from PA and administrator positions to more specialist roles, such as HR and IT professionals.
The National Audit Office (NAO) scrutinises public spending on behalf of Parliament, helping it to hold government departments to account and helping public service managers improve performance and service delivery. Each year it requires a number of interim and contract qualified external auditors to support this audit process. The numbers can range from ten to thirty auditors.
In the past, the NAO HR team has worked with a number of recruitment agencies to supply these auditors in volume. Although this approach resulted in recruiting the auditors required, the team found the process of dealing with multiple contacts and agencies to be inefficient.
In 2009, Hays was selected to work with NAO on an exclusive basis after proposing tailored recruitment.
- Hays set up a senior recruitment contact for the NAO, so the client now has one dedicated person to speak to regarding all vacancies and recruitment queries.
24 hour response
- Hays’ service level agreement promises to deliver recruitment solutions for temporary recruitment within 24 hours and permanent recruitment within five working days.
Contact review and process improvement
- A quarterly review meeting between the Hays account manager and the NAO HR contact is held to discuss the agreement. This provides a continuous opportunity to develop the service as circumstances change and to act on specific feedback.
Hays has exclusively taken care of the NAO’s temporary auditor recruitment needs for the past three years, successfully recruiting over fifty auditors to assist with the workload. Hays has also been commissioned to deliver a raft of other appointments across a number of different professional disciplines including HR, IT, procurement and admin and clerical positions.
