Preston school leaders meet at education forum

03 July 2015

Hays Education, the leading recruiting expert, hosted an education forum on 23 June, at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston attracting over 35 headteachers and school leaders from local primary and secondary schools. The seminar prompted discussion on current focuses within education including school leadership, particularly in the sorts of challenging times the education sector is currently experiencing.

The forum gave attendees the opportunity to discuss the themes and ideas on what makes a successful school leader and the factors that can lead to unsuccessful leadership. Sir Tim Brighouse, former chief education officer in Oxfordshire and Birmingham and visiting professor at the Institute of Education, and David Cameron, Chair of the York Education Partnership, were the keynote speakers at the event.

During the seminar, Sir Tim and David encouraged teachers to share their own classroom successes and their own methods to engage children in their classes to help them thrive.

Neil McGregor, Senior Office Manager at Hays Education, said: “We were pleased to welcome over 35 headteachers from local primary and secondary schools to this event. Sir Tim Brighouse and David Cameron's speeches were highly thought provoking and sparked some excellent debate and ideas sharing from the headteachers who attended.”
