Charity PA named UK’s top personal assistant

16 October 2013

Leeanne Graham, a personal assistant from a London charity, was named ‘PA of the Year’ at the Executive PA Magazine | Hays Awards 2013, winning a luxury trip to Los Angeles.

Leeanne, who is PA the CEO of the Association of Chief Executives of Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO), was nominated by a colleague in recognition of her pride in her work and ability to anticipate the needs of her boss, and to build relationships with the ACEVO’s stakeholders.

On winning the award, Leeanne said: “Just over a year ago I made the determination to become the best person I could be, changing my job and pushing myself to succeed. Entering this award was almost a test to see if all my hard work had paid off. I never expected to win and as I got through each stage of the process I started to believe more and more that I may actually be worthy of this award.  The amazing feeling when I realised the MC was announcing me as the winner is a feeling that will never leave me. Proud is an understatement.

“To win this award means that the self-belief I have been working so hard to achieve is definitely within me. I love my job and I love my profession and to be recognised for the passion I have is just awesome. If I can inspire just one other PA to reach for those goals they think are unreachable then I will have won all over again. I'm so grateful to Executive PA Magazine and Hays for giving me the opportunity to reach even more of my goals and look forward to sharing those achievements too.”

Leeanne’s manager, Sir Stephen Bubb, said: “I am extremely proud that Leeanne has been awarded PA of the Year 2013. I must say it comes as no surprise. Leeanne has been my PA for a year now and during that time has proved over and over again that she is truly top class.

“Her bright personality and ability to make things happen for me are just two reasons why Leeanne is thoroughly deserving of this award. It's a great credit to her - and to the third sector as a whole - that her talent has been recognised, in a competition with PAs from all industries and sectors. I wish her all the best with the fantastic opportunities that will come with this accolade – and hope that she stays with me in the future!”

Geoff Sims, Managing Director, Hays PA & Secretarial and one of the award judges, said: “Leeanne impressed the judges with the initiative she has taken to become the best PA she can be. Her success in the culmination of a lot of hard work and determination, and reflects her resilience and professionalism.”

Andrew Organ, Publisher of Executive PA Magazine said: “Leeanne is a truly outstanding PA and will be a great ambassador for our awards. Two years ago, she thought about entering but didn’t have the confidence. Obviously her confidence has grown considerably as this year her presentation was so strong that no one on the 2013 judging panel could fail to be impressed.”
