Demand high in Scotland for commercial finance professionals

Signs of recovery in the Scottish market have led to an increased demand for commercially savvy finance professionals, according to Hays, the leading recruiting expert. At present, the financial services sector in Scotland is proactively recruiting to ensure that the best teams are in place to take advantage of an upturn in the market.

Most significantly, there has been an increase in the levels of recruitment within public practice firms and even in the public sector, despite speculation over impending job cuts. Candidates with the ability to focus on the bigger picture, who have a proven track record and a solid CV are highly sought after.

Keith Mason, Director at Hays in Scotland, comments: "It is widely understood that commercial candidates can cut costs and add real value to an organisation. In Scotland we are seeing that many companies have recognised this and are bringing on additional staff; in some cases to work on major change management projects; systems implementations or strategic business reviews.

What is also positive is that we are seeing many candidates who had previously put their career on hold, now considering their career options. This, coupled with the rise in demand for certain skills has led to more movement in the market."
