Shortage of teaching staff to meet demand in Middlesbrough

A large number of Middlesbrough's schools, private nurseries, state nurseries and children's centres are struggling to find suitably qualified workers, according to Hays Education, the leading recruiting expert. Individuals with the relevant level two or three qualifications combined with nursery or school based experience are in high demand across Middlesbrough. In addition there is a shortage of suitably qualified secondary school teachers with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), or a recognised teaching qualification, specialising in core subjects such as maths, science and English.

Diane Robertson, Area Manager at Hays Education in Middlesbrough, comments: "Despite the current downturn there are skills shortages within the region and those individuals with relevant experience and qualifications that are interested in applying should speak with one of our consultants. Nursery nurses and teachers are crucial to the local education system as they work to ensure that the children in their care are well educated as well as safe, happy and stimulated.''
