Shortage of its engineers to meet demand in the UK

UK consultancies are experiencing a severe shortage of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) engineers, according to Hays Civil Engineering, the leading recruiting expert. ITS systems improve efficiency of transport by using electronic programmes to control traffic and enforce regulations. Professionals with relevant experience are highly sought after due to highway agencies focusing on their public communications systems.

Caroline Owen, Regional Business Manager at Hays Civil Engineering, comments: "This is a specialist area as ITS engineers are required to deliver effective programmes that can assist the public. Those professionals with experience of back-office, enforcement, passenger information and M&E for road tunnels systems in addition to exposure of CCTV, message signs and signals and road user charging are in huge demand. Individuals with relevant experience and qualifications that are interested in applying should speak with one of our consultants who are able to provide expert career advice."
