Despite the current doom and gloom, recruiters Hays Senior Finance in the Thames Valley are reporting a strong increase in demand for senior-level qualified accountants.
“Year-on-year we are seeing a significant increase in new assignments coming through. This is good news for senior qualified accountants in the Thames Valley area” says Paul Thomas, Director of Hays Senior Finance in the Home Counties. ‘Sectors where we are noticing the strongest job flow increases are: Oil and Gas, Manufacturing, Utilities, and the FMCG sector. There has also been a noticeable demand for more niche finance skills; in particular requirement for candidates with Change Management, Internal Audit and Controls experience has increased.
“The senior interim market is also going from strength to strength. More and more of our clients are recruiting interim professionals to undertake specific projects and we have been successfully placing candidates earning from £25.00 an hour to £1,000 per day. We expect this surge in demand for interim finance professionals to continue to as many organisations approach year-end.
“The influx in the requirement for senior-level accountants, is primarily due to businesses wanting to make sure – now more than ever – that they have the best talent at the top-end of their organisation,” says Thomas. “We are also seeing high demand for those people with commercial and operational experience of driving change throughout a business. The good news is, that the increase in the movement at the senior level has had no impact on the newly qualified recruitment market; this remains extremely buoyant. We are fortunate to have a strong team of experienced senior recruiters to deliver at all levels.”
