Headteacher's Welcome

Dear Colleague,

Thank you for expressing an interest in working at Stratford School Academy.

There is a wealth of knowledge and research on what really influences pupils’ achievement and our approach here is to identify and progressively implement what are known to be ‘high yield’ or ‘high impact’ teaching approaches, whether that is pupil feedback, particular forms of lesson planning or metacognition. In order to do this we expect our staff to participate in an open and visible teaching culture – think sports coaching. We do not work on our own and SSA is an active member of the North East London Teaching Alliance and the Pixl group.

In October 2015 we moved into the second of our newly developed sites which was funded through the Priority Schools Building Programme. The project continues to see us expand from six to ten forms of entry and our new building at our Upton Lane site incorporates a Resourced Provision for 20 children with Autism.

Each building will house 750 pupils, deliver two five forms of entry and each run as a 'mini school'. On a day to day basis, from the pupils' point of view, we will operate our schools largely independently although there will be a shared option scheme: pupils go to and will be educated at one or other of the schools. But behind the scenes we will operate a single school with a single office function and a largely single leadership spine.

In this way we think that we will be able to get the best of both worlds, to be both big and small at the same time with the advantages that both confer. As we go through a period of growth there are plenty career opportunities for our staff.

If you would like to arrange a visit or have an informal discussion about the role and the recruitment process, please contact Ellie Field, Permanent Recruitment Manager on 0207 259 8770.

Yours faithfully
Andrew Seager
