Following a transitional period from the amalgamation of two former schools and the challenges presented by a relocation into new premises adjacent to the John Charles Sports Centre, South Leeds High School now enters an exciting period as we seek to build on the stability that will provide the springboard to continued and accelerated improvement.
The post offers a genuine opportunity to make a significant contribution to the life chances of the young people the school serves. A recent Ofsted inspection recognised the challenges that remain ahead for us and placed the school in Special Measures to enable us to draw on additional support. Like the staff who are contracted to be with the school in September, you will have the abilities, ambition and determination to secure positive outcomes for our young people and for the school.
We are looking to add to our complement of enthusiastic staff by recruiting colleagues who can focus on the positives and support the culture of change towards continual school improvement. More than anything else, we are always on the lookout for tenacious, professionals who are intent on making a substantial contribution. Despite the challenges, the mood of the staff and students is remarkably buoyant. Since my appointment in September 2004, I have been encouraged enormously by the support I have had from governors, staff and the community. I am confident that you can anticipate the same in your role.
Please feel free to contact the school to speak to myself or Jeanette Dahl, the school’s Personnel Manager so that we can provide you with any additional information you may require. You would be assured of a warm welcome should you wish to visit the school.
Now that you have read a little about us, if you are driven to find out
more then you may be just the person we are looking for and we would be
delighted to hear from you. We look forward to receiving your completed
application form and supporting letter and hope that this will see the
start of a long, successful and enjoyable period in your career, a period
during which you will be able to reflect on the difference you have made
to the school and our young people.
