

Langley is a suburb of Slough, situated on the eastern edge. The Langley train station is 15 minutes from Paddington, Junction 5 off the M4 and 15 minutes away from the M40. Slough is home to c.33, 000 children, more than one quarter of its population. These children come from a hugely rich and diverse range of ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Children in our schools speak over 50 different languages as a first language.
Slough has 45 schools including 5 nursery schools, 5 infant schools, 4 junior schools, 18 primary schools, 7 non-selective secondary schools, 4 grammar schools and 2 special schools. There is an excellent relationship between schools and with schools and the LEA. Schools work together within consortia and federations. There is a good support for Newly Qualified Teachers, and a range of Advanced Skills Teachers working across schools. There is a strong local Sure Start Partnership and three established Children’s Centres with others planned.
Ofsted joint area review of Slough education and children service department rated it as "outstanding". Examinations results for Slough put it in the top 10 in the country. Being a small authority allows schools and children's services to work closely together for the benefit of the children. Slough's motto is " Children First". Slough has many initiatives that have been held up as good practice nationally. It is an exciting place to work and learn.
